The leader of Wigwe University, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, stated that the university is prepared to meet the educational needs of people looking for top-quality education within the country.

During the Wigwe University Education fair, Wigwe highlighted the university’s determination to address challenges in Nigeria’s education system. He explained that by using advanced technology and innovation, the university aims to become a prominent global education institution, offering an option comparable to international standards.

Wigwe stressed the importance of courage in facing Nigeria’s academic challenges instead of avoiding them, addressing the issue of brain drain in the country. He commended the Nigerian educational sector for producing brilliant minds, including himself as a beneficiary. However, he pointed out that Nigeria’s universities have declined over time due to insufficient attention to crucial aspects of their development.

He described Wigwe University as a fearless player on the global educational stage, leading positive change in the Nigerian University System and global education. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Miles Davies, announced that the university is open to both national and international students who meet the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board regulations, demonstrating the commitment to inclusivity and global collaboration.

Davies mentioned that the university would pursue international collaborations benefiting students and staff, adapting to Nigeria’s needs and contexts following the Federal Government’s approval of the Transnational Education Guidelines.

Dr. Obari Gomba, the 2023 winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature, delivered a keynote address at the event, emphasizing the significance of combining brilliant minds and moral conduct as catalysts for social change. Referring to the university’s motto, “We the Fearless,” he highlighted the historical role of universities in driving social change and encouraged individuals to overcome fears for the growth and development of society.
