Okuama killings: Military Whisk Away Delta Monarch to Abuja for Questioning

Oghenerukevwe Ikolo Urhukpe 1 allegedly involved in the gruesome killing of 17 Military officers in Okuama Community has been flown to Defence headquarters, Abuja for further interrogations.

The Traditional Ruler who is one of the 8 suspects declared wanted thursday by Defence headquarters in connection with the Okuama killings reportedly surrendered himself to the Delta State Police command, Asaba and was received by the police Commissioner, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi thursday evening .

The Military authorities were subsequently notified following which the monarch was flown to Abuja Friday morning .

The Suspect was escorted to the Asaba Airport by the commanding Officer, 63 Brigade Nigeria Army Asaba, the Delta State commissioner of police and other senior military officers.

The Ewu – Urhobo monarch accompanied by a combined team of military officers and the police as well as personal aides of the monarch later boarded Air peace airline and the plane departed the tarmac of Asaba Airport at about 9:10 am to Abuja.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright who confirmed the report said the suspect has been handed over to the military authorities for further investigations.

In response to a question by journalists, the PPRO said ‘’ Yes I can confirm to you that the wanted Traditional Ruler has been handed over to military authorities.

He is no longer in our custody. The hand over process was concluded this morning ‘’.
